Welcome to
NetReg!
What
NetReg is...
NetReg is Morningside College's network device
registration system. It authenticates attempts to connect
devices to the campus networks, collecting information that
identifies devices with specific network users.
NetReg helps network administrators maintain network
security and quickly identify and isolate problems as they
occur. This makes the network more secure and reliable for
everyone.
How
NetReg works...
When
an unregistered computer is connected to the network, it
automatically receives a restricted network configuration.
After it has been properly registered and rebooted, it
receives a full network configuration that allows it to
communicate normally with other computers on campus and on
the Internet.
Until a computer has been successfully registered, it can
only communicate with the registration server.
Computers only need to be registered once per semester on
each network.
Who
may register a computer...
Current students and employees of the College may
register devices on the network. Each student may register a
single computer on both the residence hall and wireless
networks. Devices must be registered in order to use the
network.
