A student selecting a major offered by the Department of Business & Accounting will gain understanding of the core areas needed to participate in the business world today including accounting, law, quantitative methods, management, marketing, economics, management information systems, and finance. These courses or areas present information drawing on knowledge acquired through liberal arts courses and will, therefore, draw upon the student’s general studies background. The business core background will give the student the knowledge needed for admission to many master’s degree programs. In addition to this core knowledge, specialized skills are available to students depending on their major and/or emphasis. Students who wish to double major in business and other areas on campus should contact their advisor.
Majors and Minors Offered by the Department of Business & Accounting
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Students who choose to pursue this degree must reach a 2.7 GPA in the five core courses and select a field of business to emphasize in their studies--finance, management, marketing, or MBA Prep.
Bachelor of Arts in General Business: This degree allows students to gain a business degree by completing the core curriculum of the department.
Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising: As an interdisciplinary major, this combines study in business, graphic design, and mass communication.
Bachelor of Science in Arts Administration: This is also an interdisciplinary major and includes study in business and art, and students select a field to emphasize in their studies--music management, photography management, or studio art management.
Bachelor of Science in Managerial Accounting: A 124-credit program that normally is completed in four years.
Bachelor of Science in Public Accounting: A 150-credit program that satisfies the education requirement to make students C.P.A. ready.
