Pre-Medical Labratory Science
Last updated December 02, 2016
Students desiring a career in medical laboratory science can complete approximately 90 credit hours at Morningside College which serves as a foundation for a clinical year of courses (40 credits) and practical lab experience. A Bachelor of Science degree is awarded when the student satisfies all Morningside requirements and passes clinical year. Morningside College maintains affiliations with UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s and Mercy Medical Center, both accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Admission to one of these programs is competitive.
Understanding your undergraduate path:
Typically, Morningside College students who identify as Pre-Medical Laboratory Science connect with the local Sioux City Mercy Hospital MLS Program Director- Mary Smith. Mary can arrange observation experiences and talk with interested students. There is also a brochure on their site that talks specifically about Mercy's program, but it is likely that other options in the MLS program are the same. Be sure to consult with your First Year Adviser, Faculty Adviser, or an adviser at the school or college of medical labratory science that you plan to attend.
