Electronic Notification System

In the case of a major emergency, school closings, and severe weather, alerts are posted via the Morningside Electronic Notification System, which sends out alerts to all students, faculty and staff via a message to their cell phone and to the college e-mail account. Updates will be posted to the college website and messages will be sent out via the Electronic Notification System. In the case of the campus being closed due to weather, the Vice President for Academic Affair’s Office will also send a message out using the Electronic Notification System. All students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled in the system.
In the event a situation arises, either on or off campus that constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat, a campus wide warning will be issued. The warning will be issued through the Morningside College Electronic Notification System, which sends the notification to the cell phone a person provides and their campus e-mail account. If time permits, notifications will also be posted around campus.
Depending on the particular circumstance of the crime, especially in all situations that could pose an immediate threat to the community and individuals, Campus Safety and Security may also post a notice on the campus website that will provide the campus community with additional notice and information. In such instances, a copy of the notice will be posted in the residence halls, in the Olsen Student Center, and the academic buildings. Anyone with information that would warrant a timely warning should report the information to the Campus Safety and Security Office by phone at (712) 274-5234 or in the Campus Safety and Security Office in the Olsen Student Center or Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center.
